August 11th-26th
- Students will be looking at the artwork of Pablo Piccasso and practicing the skill of abstraction

- Students apply their knowledge of abstraction to create an abstract self portrait
- Students use self portraits and transfer ideas into a abstract clay face
August 29th-September 15th
- Students are participating in the "Eye Project" this project is designed to create community awareness on campus.
- Students use prior knowledge of skills and materials learned in Art Basics to create the eyes of someone else on campus
September 16th-October 21st
- Students create book sculptures SLIDE SHOW
October 22nd-November 18th
- Students work on FALA mural
November 28th-December 16th

- Students are designing reusable shopping bags for Earth Day! Each student will receive a $10.00 gift card from Bookmans!
- Students begin the coil pot project SLIDESHOW and RUBRIC
February 2nd-April 10th
- Students will be exploring stereotypes in the media.
- Students write a 5 paragraph essay relating to stereotypes.
- Students Create "BARBIE IN A BOX" RUBRIC
JANUARY 5th-21st
- Students use their knowledge of line to create wire sculptures

August 15th -23rd- Students will be investigating relief and practicing creating 3-d forms from 2-D ideas.
August 25th- September 22th
- Students will construct sculptures through phonebook pages.
September 24th-October 27th
- Slab Built Ceramics Final RUBRIC
October 29th-November 17th
- Students will create a relief self portrait using meaningful media.
- They will communicate an idea though the medium used.
- Students will practice using a grid to make a proportionate self portrait.
- Students will watch the move Waste Land and discuss the importance of this film.
- Powerpoint for the project "The Medium is the Message"
November 19th- December 19th
- Students explore the career of costume and make-up design
- Students create a mask
- Depending on section (1st hour is creating masks) and 3rd hour is exploring art and activism VIDEO
- Continue to work on final project
