SEMESTER TWO

Student studied the work of Chuck Close and created a detailed grid project.  RUBRIC

SEMESTER ONE

August 6th-13th

Students will be creating portfolios, art room scavenger hunt and introductions

  • Students will be discussing "What is Art?" and applying their knowledge in a discussion about what is art, who can create it.
  • Students begin visual journals and insert vocabulary SLIDESHOW

August 26th-September 6th

  • Students will be exploring the element of line. Visual journal prompts will include expressive line "Bad Hair Day" and contour line drawings. Projects will include a study of Keith Haring RUBRIC and a contour line drawing of hands RUBRIC.

Sept 9th-13th

  • Students will be exploring contour line drawing. Journal prompts include "blind contour drawing". 

Sept 16th-October 6th

  • Students will draw the story of their life using symbolism and expressive line.

Oct 7th-14th  

  • Students will create a warm and cool color weaving and a warm and cool color writing piece.

Oct 16th-Oct 30 

  • Students are exploring color theory. Power Point 
  • Students make a color wheel and mix primary colors to get secondary colors

  •  Students paint on vintage book pages using what they learned from color theory.

  • Students will learn how to gesture draw by studying the human figure. 
  • Students will make a wire sculpture of a human body.
